- Cleveland, Ohio
- 70,000 SF
- $10 million
This 70,000 SF $10 million project consists of a new two-story private educational complex for pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students. KAI programmed the school and then prepared a Master Plan for the site which includes the future expansion of the classroom wing. Ultimately the school will accommodate an enrollment of 600 students.
One of the great challenges KAI eagerly accepted was to design a contemporary structure to complement and respect the historical surroundings. The design was approved and embraced by the Landmarks and local design review commissions.
KAI incorporated a number of sustainable design principles into the building constructed on the urban brownfield site. Natural light and ventilation was achieved in each classroom with expansive windows while low emitting materials were utilized throughout the facility. Motion sensors and multi-level switching were used to reduce energy required for artificial lighting.
